Saturday -Sept 12 2009 painted at Sandy Bottoms, Blue Ridge GA with Dorothea

picked her up at 6:30 a.m. arrived before Art Center was open, went first to Meisters Orchard but the mist has greyed everything down and blurred all edges and Dorothea said, not doing for me and off we went over the Shallowford Bridge and down the dirt trail. could have painted a dozen pictures from that one spot. I guess I

will go again.

Sunday morning sept 13, 2009 Painted oil for my last day at the
paint out. Worked on it long without a break. very misty morning. That afternoon Marsha Savage said the Art Center was hanging pix on Wed. I better get home and get the framing going.

This was the first day for the International Plein Air Painters Paint out sponsored in this area by the Blue Ridge Arts in the GA mts. Beautiful space and this was painted as afternoon storms threatened the Merciers Apple Orchard. That is the original Apple House in the background and the pond in front. Painted from the right side parking lot with Donna Bigge painting oil and Cathy painting pastels. hot as the afternoon wore on and I love this painting. Hope you guys do to.

Sunday Morning - Blue Ridge GA

Loved the area and the arts assoc and the people involved were hospitable and welcoming. Took the pictures (framed) to Blue Ridge this morning. Reese and Papa came with me. Talked to Sarah who gave me some hints on photomaking with digital and how to enhance entries submitted to a juror. looking forward to seeing the works and brought home a bag of Jonagold from Merciers.

  1. I love the plein air work. The lines are always a bit different than the studio. Fresh and beautiful!
